What Is Your Job?
“What Is Your Job?” A simple question. How it is answered is very reveling.
In the 1980s, a group of Japanese executives was asked by their teacher, “What Is Your Job?” The Executives responded with their job title or department’s function. The teacher responded “Your job is to help your people to do their job!”
In the 2010s, Michael Schmich (now: Impact Washington) was working at Toyo Tire when his boss asked him “What Is Your Job?” Michael responded that his job was to deliver training. The boss responded ‘your job was to get Mr. Sato to learn what Mr. Sato needs to learn, to do his job well’. (paraphrased from the 2022 PNAA (Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance) Conference; SME track: The Bulletproof Nature of TWI for Change)
So… what is your answer? Be truthful. Do your actions convey your belief?
